Moth Attack

The San Francisco Bay was one busy place this past weekend! There were a massive number of boats racing in the Great Vallejo Race, San Francisco Yacht Club hosted F18s and skiffs, and out of St. Francis, racing on the main bay, there were 505s, Finns, Kites, Lasers, Radials Wetas, Windsurfers, and the incredible Foiling Moths. The ebb was just starting to flow on the Cityfront as I motored onto the course, and since I had never photographed the Moths, I spent considerable time learning their angles before I ventured in for some shots. My preliminary study paid in spades, and I feel that I snagged some pretty good action. The Moths are a little erratic, but when they hook up they're incredibly fast, and very fun to watch. Six Moths attended as part of the Elvstrom Zellerbach regatta, and I hope that we'll see more of this class blasting around the Bay in the future. Results can be found here.
